CNC engraving machine spindle is a kind of motorized spindle that can be processed at high speed. It is widely used in some small and medium-sized CNC engraving machine equipment. It can be mainly used for high-speed engraving, drilling and milling, drilling and so on.

2. Spindle classification of NC engraving machine

Water cooled spindle, air-cooled spindle and automatic tool change spindle.

The internal structures of air-cooled spindle and water-cooled spindle are basically the same. Both rotors rotate around coils (stators). At present, almost all water-cooled spindle and air-cooled spindle are controlled by frequency conversion and need to be driven by frequency converter. The difference is that the water-cooled spindle uses water circulation to cool the heat generated by the high-speed rotation of the spindle, while the air-cooled spindle depends on its own fan for cooling, After water circulation, the general temperature will not exceed 40 °, while the air-cooled spindle depends on the fan for heat dissipation, and the heat dissipation effect is not as good as that of water cooling. However, due to the low temperature in winter in northern China, attention should also be paid to the freezing of circulating water to damage the main shaft.

4. Difference between water-cooled spindle and air-cooled spindle of NC engraving machine

1. The water-cooled spindle uses water circulation to cool the heat generated by the high-speed rotation of the spindle (18000 or 24000 RPM); After water circulation, the temperature (usually tested) will not exceed 40 degrees, so the cooling effect will be very good; At the same time, the air-cooled motorized spindle is cooled by a fan, and its cooling effect is certainly not as good as that of water cooling.

Therefore, the water-cooled spindle is more suitable for long-time engraving than the air-cooled motorized spindle, but this does not mean that the air-cooled motorized spindle can not do engraving, it can also do it, but working continuously for more than 4 hours will damage its service life;

But if we do, that’s good. For example, the embossing operation takes 6 hours to complete; Machines with air-cooled motorized spindles must first work for 4 hours, then rest for 30 minutes, and then start again to complete the rest.

This will not cause harm to the main shaft, and will cause harm to the air-cooled motorized main shaft, making it work continuously for more than 4 hours. For the same work, if the water-cooled spindle is used, it will always work until the work is completed, just remember that if the water becomes very hot, it should be washed clean.

2. Noise. The water-cooled spindle motor basically has no noise, but the air-cooled spindle motor is very noisy.

3. Service life. Because the water-cooled spindle motor should pay attention to maintenance, frequently change water or use industrial water cooler, its service life is much longer than that of air-cooled spindle motor.

4. Accuracy. The axial and radial runout of water-cooled spindle motor are basically below 0.003 mm, which is far less than that of air-cooled spindle motor (domestic)!

5. Easy to use. Since the water-cooled spindle needs to be connected to the water pump, a bucket is needed to hold water, and the water pipe needs to be connected. Especially in the cold winter in the north, it is easier to freeze, and some customers may find it troublesome; The air-cooled spindle will not have so many use problems.
